OUR MISSION

HELPING PEOPLE. CHANGING LIVES. ENGAGING COMMUNITIES TO END POVERTY.

Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph began its service to Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb counties in 1965. Today, we continue to be an organization that relies on the generosity of others to make a difference in the lives of those in need and encourage a hand up towards self-sufficiency. Since that time, we’ve grown to become one of the region’s largest non-profit 501(c)(3)s dedicated to engaging communities to end poverty.

Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph is an agency of the statewide Missouri Community Action Network. Together, Missouri’s 19 Community Action Agencies are helping people and changing lives in all 114 counties. Learn more at www.missourican.org.

Upon declaration of the “War on Poverty,” which resulted from the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson created what has grown to over 1,000 Community Action Agencies across the nation – together Helping People, Changing Lives.

Since our creation on April 14, 1965, Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph has been partnering with low income families, individuals and communities in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb Counties, Missouri to help them achieve economic and social stability; to build community, and to advocate for social and economic justice.

Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph provides emergency assistance for low-income individuals and families in the form of utility assistance. We work to create safe and affordable housing opportunities through our Housing Development program. Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide early childhood education, nutrition, mental health, and social services to low-income children and their families.
